Background of the Study
Unemployment is a significant socio-economic issue in many countries, including Nigeria. Research has shown that unemployment can have a detrimental effect on mental health, leading to conditions such as anxiety, depression, and stress. This study seeks to assess the relationship between unemployment and mental health disorders, specifically focusing on patients at Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Statement of the Problem
The relationship between unemployment and mental health disorders has been recognized globally, but there is limited empirical data on this issue in Nigeria, particularly in Ogun State.
